About Us

A 10 Episode Web Series that's Gay, Spiritual, and Raunchy as Hell.

Just like the Bible!

Free Brettney is the story of an un-holy trinity: a gay man (Brett), his faithful girlfriend (Weezie), and her heathen roommate (Liz). Brett wants desperately to fit into his brother’s conservative church, but what happens when he meets a hot gay pastor-in-training from a progressive church nearby? Guided by religious mentors and agnostic angels, our heroes learn to love themselves in defiance of oppressive religious tradition.

Our Story

Created by Brett Bainer, Kyle Hughes, and Hannah Seusy, this series is inspired by Brett's experiences in a homophobic church, and how difficult it can be to untangle oneself from conservative religious environments.

Our mission is to see, love, and celebrate young queer people, especially those trapped in non-affirming faith communities. We believe there is a spiritual home for every person, and we seek to amplify the voice of progressive Christianity, so often silenced by the words and actions of Christian nationalism.

We are currently fundraising to film in the spring of 2027, after a successful industry reading at Judson Memorial Church in May of 2026.
